The 2006 Tennis Masters Cup runner-up Blake will be opposed by his fellow American Robby Ginepri, while the eighth-seeded 2005 Masters Cup titlist Nalbandian will take on 28th-seeded speedy Frenchman Sebastien Grosjean. Blake titled at last week's Aussie Open tune-up in Sydney. Nalbandian has reached at least the quarterfinals here four straight years, while Grosjean has reached at least the quarters in four of his previous eight trips to Melbourne.
Perhaps the marquee bout of the day will pit 10th-seeded Chilean Fernando Gonzalez against 19th-seeded heavy Aussie crowd favorite Lleyton Hewitt. The two-time Grand Slam champion and former world No. 1 Hewitt was the 2005 Aussie Open runner-up to big Russian Marat Safin.
In other third-round action, 12th-seeded German Tommy Haas will encounter his countryman Florian Mayer, 13th-seeded Czech slugger Tomas Berdych will face 21st-seeded Russian Dmitry Tursunov and 15th-seeded Brit Andy Murray will be opposed by Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela.
